CNN’s John Berman, Alisyn Camerota Hilariously Go Off the Rails Over Gillette’s ‘Toxic Masculinity’ Ad

There was some amusing banter between CNN’s John Berman and Alisyn Camerota on Wednesday when they held a discussion about Gillette’s controversial new ad about “toxic masculinity.”

The hygienics company has been drawing criticism lately from those who say their new razors commercial demonizes men by drawing a connection between facial hair and negative male stereotypes. As CNN’s New Day panel debated the online commotion over the ad, Camerota remarked that her co-anchor is a man, and that’s when the discussion fell apart from laughter on all sides.

Here’s the transcript.

Camerota: Yeah, I mean, you’re a man. What’s wrong —

Berman: Appreciate that. Thank you. Finally, finally I get the recognition I deserve.

Camerota: And you’re great.

Berman: Keep trying, you’re digging yourself out of that hole.

Camerota: My point is what’s wrong — since when did role modeling some sort of behavior on TV become virtue-signaling?

Berman: Can I answer that?

Camerota: Yes.

Berman: I watched with my 11-year-old son because I wanted to figure out the controversy and we both looked at each other afterwards like all this ad is about is bad behavior. There’s nothing on the line in this ad, Charles, it’s saying don’t ogle and harass women. Don’t bully people. Don’t beat people up. What’s controversial about saying those things?”
