A State of the Union discussion over whether President Barack Obama had melted into former President George W. Bush pulled to the side of the road Sunday when former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli — there to discuss foreign policy for reasons that will forever remain a mystery — claimed that Obama had denigrated the U.S.’s respectability, something fellow panelist L.Z. Granderson literally could not believe.
Granderson had been arguing that Obama’s deliberate foreign policy was designed to avoid falling into the trap of endless military occupation.
“You can say it that way and let’s assume for a moment that’s correct,” Cuccinelli said. “But then six years of reducing the respectability of the United States in the world arena, including with our own allies –”
Granderson was flabbergasted. “Did you travel during the Bush years?” he asked. “Did you travel during the Bush years? I did! We did not have respectability in the globe during the Bush years.”
