CNN’s Phil Mudd Blasts FISA Memo Squabble: ‘Pitiful Representation of American Democracy’
CNN’s Phil Mudd was definitely not impressed with the developments surrounding the House Intelligence Committee’s decision to release their memo about alleged FISA abuses against the Trump 2016 Campaign.
Mudd was part of panel discussion which took place after House Ranking Member Adam Schiff (D-CA) denounced his GOP colleagues for voting to send out a partisan-charged report while also holding back a memo that adds context from the committee’s minority opinion.
When Mudd was asked for thoughts on this, the former CIA operative held nothing back as he denounced the entire commotion as a “pitiful representation of American democracy.”
“We started out with an American problem: 330 million Americans said we trust Congress to answer a question about whether a foreign power intervened in an American election. We cannot now rely on this committee to give us an answer that’s not broken up between Democrats and Republicans. Not on an issue of health care, not an issue of taxation, on a foundational issue of whether Russia interfered in an American election, we cannot get an answer out of it.”
