CNN’s Stelter: Fox News Does Disservice to Viewers by Covering for Trump and Promoting ‘A Bunch of BS’

CNN’s Brian Stelter and Bill Carter spoke with anchor Erica Hill this afternoon about the big New Yorker report today on the relationship between President Donald Trump and Fox News.

Stelter said Fox News is basically split into Fox News and Fox opinion — with the latter being “much much bigger.”

“The Fox News part has been shrinking and the Fox Opinion part’s been expanding,” he added.

They also discussed the part of the report concerning Trump’s rankings of Fox Newsers’ loyalty, with Fox & FriendsSteve Doocy reportedly scoring a 12 out of 10. Bill Carter said the idea of that “would be embarrassing to a real news person.”

Stelter argued that one big takeaway from the Fox-Trump relationship is that the network is doing a disservice to its audience:

“They’re doing a disservice to their viewers. Ultimately, when the Sean Hannitys of the world are covering up bad news about Trump and promoting a bunch of BS and make Trump feel better, that’s actually a disservice to the audience. It may make the president feel good, it doesn’t help the audience, because it actually confuses the audience.”
