Colbert Blasts Trump For ‘Unsung’ Puerto Rico Response: ‘Take Your Paper Towels and Cram Them!’
On Tuesday night, Stephen Colbert had some fun at the expense of President Donald Trump over his recent remarks on Hurricane Florence as well as his handling of Hurricane Maria.
While discussing preparations of Hurricane Florence, Trump elaborated on the historic nature of the storm.
“They haven’t seen anything like what’s coming at us in, uh, 25-30 years. Maybe ever,” Trump told reporters. “It’s tremendously big and tremendously wet.”
Well, Colbert couldn’t help but ridicule that statement.
“It’s true, it’s true,” Colbert told his audience. “It’s tremendously big and tremendously wet, which also describes the bed he ordered in Moscow.”
The Late Show host then pivoted to comments Trump made about the federal government’s response to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, which it was recently determined that roughly 3,000 people died from that storm, calling it an “unsung success.”
“He’s right, it was definitely unsung- maybe because no one could plug in their mics because it took 11 months to restore power,” Colbert reacted. “So you know what? Let’s sing it now.”
Colbert literally sang to the president.
“You totally sucked! Take your paper towels and cram them!” Colbert belted to the tune of “I Started a Joke” by The BeeGees.
