Colbert Disowns Jeb Bush Over Immigration ‘Act of Love’ Comment

With only 945 days to go before the 2016 presidential election, Stephen Colbert had been “pinning his hopes on” Jeb Bush. But after the 43rd president’s younger brother called illegal immigration an “act of love” at an event this weekend, Colbert had this to say about the potential candidate: “He will be missed.”

As the host explained using the visual of an arrow entering the United States from Mexico, “Illegal immigration is not an ‘act of love,’ sir. It is an illicit, filthy act of border penetration. No love involved. It is sweaty, it is frantic, and odds are it’s happening in the back of a truck.”

“If immigrants love their families so much, then why does my housekeeper never seem to go home to her kids?” Colbert asked. “She’s always with mine.”
