Colbert Happily Joins Fox News in ‘Making Sh*t Up’ to Combat ISIS
After tackling Ferguson Wednesday night, Stephen Colbert turned Thursday to the other big story he missed during his two-week vacation: ISIS. Once he learned that the extremist group is mostly made up of middle-aged Iraqis, Colbert concluded, “they’re forty-somethings having a midlife ISIS.”
Colbert proceeded to share his reactions to comments made by Fox News personalities Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who wants Obama to act like the “man of the house,” and Kimberly Guilfoyle, who wants to know if it’s possible to rub a “magic lamp” and get Benjamin Netanyahu or Vladimir Putin to run the U.S. for 48 hours.
“Or better yet,” Colbert said, “combine them into President Netanputu.”
“Yes, as long as we’re making shit up, as a conservative, my allegiance is to an ever greater imaginary leader — Ronald Reagan,” Colbert added. “He is the one we should be pretending is stopping this crisis, and Newt Gingrinch agrees.”
After quoting a fake Ronald Reagan speech written by Newt Gingrich earlier this week, Colbert went one step further by acting out an elaborate radio play that brought the conservative hero back from the dead.
