Colbert Joins Limbaugh, Fox News in Denouncing #BringBackOurGirls
When Rush Limbaugh and Fox News are upset about something, then so is Stephen Colbert. That’s why he spent a portion of his show Tuesday tearing into the hashtag activism being used to try to #BringBackOurGirls in Nigeria.
“It’s refreshing to see the world get behind a hashtag campaign that has nothing to do with firing me,” Colbert said, referring to the popular #CancelColbert movement that flared up in March.
He explained he usually loves internet memes, but can’t get behind this one, “because none of my friends are into it.” After playing clips of Limbaugh, George Will and others expressing their outrage over hashtag activism, Colbert agreed with them.
“Yes, terrorists in the wild aren’t on Twitter,” he said. “They’re up to some nasty business, obviously they’re using Snapchat.”
