Late Show host Stephen Colbert addressed CNN’s GOP debate on Wednesday with a segment analyzing how most of the major contenders “have gone full Reagan” with their campaigns.
From Donald Trump‘s “Make America Great Again” slogan and merchandising, to Jeb Bush‘s best Superman impression, many of the top Republican presidential hopefuls have done their best to invoke the spirit of the 40th President of the United States.
Yet the most recent, and most egregious, form of misplaced Reagan-love is Ted Cruz‘s “Scorpion” ad — a nearly identical homage to the famous “Bear” ad of the 1984 election cycle. Colbert spent the latter half of his segment poking fun at the ad, and even offered his own version, which identifies an even greater threat than Cruz’s “scorpion in the desert”: a spider named Alan laying eggs in your ear while you’re sleeping.
KILL. IT. WITH. FIRE.
