Colbert Mocks Don Jr.’s Alleged Affair: ‘You Know You’re In Trouble When Trump Is Giving You Marriage Advice’
Stephen Colbert had some fun at the expense of Donald Trump Jr., who is in the middle of a divorce from his wife Vanessa Trump.
“There’s nothing funny about a marriage ending… is something I believed in until I heard this story,” Colbert began.
The Late Show host pivoted to Don Jr’s reported affair with former Celebrity Apprentice contestant Aubrey O’Day.
“Aubrey O’Day? Aubrey O’Day is a celebrity. I think they’ve lowered their standards,” Colbert reacted. “Not as much as she did, but still.”
Colbert informed his audience that O’Day competed in the reality show competition Making The Band and was a member of the pop group Danity Kane. And in the years after, she became a “reality-show staple.”
“Reality-show staple by the way is how they attach Donald Trump‘s hair,” Colbert quipped.
He then invoked the report that when Trump heard about his son’s affair with O’Day while taping Celebrity Apprentice in 2011, he told Don Jr. to “knock it off.”
“You know you’re in trouble when Donald Trump is giving you marriage advice,” Colbert said.
Colbert also addressed the speculation that O’Day’s song “DJT” was about Don Jr., which included the lyrics “I hate me for loving you, hate you for letting our love die.” He said he understood the first part, but the second part “surprised” him.
“You’ve got to expect heartbreak when you date a Trump,” he continued. “I mean, their family motto is ‘Here’s your cash, now zip it.'”
