Colbert Mocks Kellyanne Conway For Calling Trump the ‘Commander of Cheese’: ‘He Did Win Wisconsin’
Stephen Colbert had some fun at the expense of White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway for accidentally calling President Trump the “Commander of Cheese.”
During an appearance on CNN, Conway spoke about the future employment of Kelly Sadler, the White House staffer who recently left after joking about the “dying” Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) as well as the president’s ongoing feud with NFL players, but she referred to the Commander in Chief as a leader of a dairy product.
“Now, that’s not the slip of the tongue,” Colbert reacted. “That would be the Commander in Cheese. The Commander of Cheese is an entirely different position, one that I’ll admit Trump is qualified for. I mean, after all, he did win Wisconsin.”
Colbert then noticed a technique that Conway uses during interviews that involves rhyming. Such examples include “snark and bark,” “this junk and this bunk,” and “Russian collusion delusion.”
“Wow, Kellyanne can rhyme!” Colbert exclaimed. “She’s spitting bars faster than Mueller can put people behind them!”
Well, the Late Show host responded with a rhyme of his own directly aimed at Conway.
“Kellyanne, you grin and spin. You stump for Trump with your deflecting and protecting. But we all know what you really are: A town crier for the garbage fire, a deceiver-for-hire, and there’s no one slyer,” Colbert told Conway. “When things are most dire, you conspire to preach to the choir, a denier of our current quagmire. My desire is that you retire before you’re fired because ma’am, you’re a liar.”
