Stephen Colbert brought back his Road to the White House segment during Monday night’s show, so there was no way he could pass up a chance to talk about Donald Trump‘s latest controversy.
The mogul frontrunner has caused a lot of commotion in the last few days after he botched a softball question by failing to readily condemn his blatantly white supremacist supporters like David Duke. “It’s not like they’re Muslim or born in Mexico,” Colbert said, mocking how Trump said he doesn’t know about Duke or the KKK.
“This is the easiest question in American politics,” Colbert said. “When someone asks you, ‘do you disavow the Ku Klux Klan?’, just say yes and start high-fiving your future cabinet.”
When he got around to Trump’s earpiece excuse, Colbert argued back that “he should take some responsibility for the mouthpiece; also, maybe the hairpiece.”
