Colbert Roasts Hillary for Trying to Force Authenticity and Spontaneity
Stephen Colbert turned away from Donald Trump to hone in on Hillary Clinton last night and mock her incredibly forced attempts to come across as authentic and spontaneous. Colbert contrasted the “former future president” with Joe Biden, whom Colbert interviewed on Thursday and no hesitations about praising as a genuine, authentic person.
Colbert highlighted the New York Times article really, actually headlined “Hillary Clinton to Show More Humor and Heart, Aides Say.” Because, as Colbert pointed out, there’s nothing more spontaneous like announcing in advance to a newspaper that you will be planning moments of spontaneity some time in the near future.
He riffed on her emails and even shared an example of Clinton’s new brand of humor.
“What’s the difference between Donald Trump‘s hair and Bernie Sanders’ hair?” he said. “I’ve been advised to make the punchline about Donald Trump’s hair so as not to alienate left-leaning Democrats.”
