Colbert: The Trump Administration Is Like Organized Crime, ‘Except for the Organized Part’
On Friday night, Stephen Colbert went after President Trump for his treatment over Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski in regards to how she voted on health care reform.
“You know how they call the presidency the ‘bully pulpit’?” Colbert asked. “So far Donald Trump is only doing the bully part.”
The Late Show host noted that Murkowski was one of only two Republican senators who voted against having an open debate on the GOP health care bill on the Senate floor last Tuesday.
He then read aloud how Trump “tweet wedgied” the Republican senator:
Senator @lisamurkowski of the Great State of Alaska really let the Republicans, and our country, down yesterday. Too bad!

“That’s tough talk,” he reacted. “but she’s not up for reelection until 2022. So he’s got nothin’ on her. He can’t threaten her.”
He then mentioned how the Trump administration reportedly threatened the entire state of Alaska in an attempt to sway her vote.
“Donald Trump knows that being president is like being in prison. You gotta walk up to the biggest state and just jack ’em,” he quipped. “Otherwise, the Senate smells weakness and it turns you into sweet meat for the next three-and-a-half years.”
Colbert went on to say that Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke allegedly told Murkowski that her vote “had put Alaska’s future with the administration in jeopardy.”
“So Trump sent one of his goons to threaten people who cross him,” he continued. “This administration is like organized crime, except for the organized part.”
