A $20 Comcast bill for an Albuquerque woman ballooned after she accidentally put her rent check in the envelope, Comcast cashed it, and refused to give her a refund.
79-year-old Frances Wilson told KRQE that for some reason, Comcast cashed the $235 check, meant to pay her rent, and when she called them out, they offered her a credit instead of giving her the money back. “You’re stealing from an old woman like me?” Wilson said during an interview. “How dare you? You didn’t even call me? Who gave you permission?” (We would like to point out that Wilson’s check, which was made out to her landlord but cashed via an automated system, covers at least 11 months of Comcast service, which is way too much Comcast for one person to deal with.)
Comcast only reimbursed her money when KRQE contacted them. “We reached out to the customer immediately and apologized,” they told the TV station, conveniently forgetting to say that Wilson had asked them to refund her weeks ago. In addition, they gave her $235 in cash, and left $235 on her Comcast account, guaranteeing her almost a year left of Comcast
torture hell service.
