You’ll recall that radio host Rush Limbaugh made a splash (and maybe even unwittingly created a viral marketing campaign) when he asked listeners this week whether they think it is “accidental that the name of the really vicious fire breathing four eyed whatever it is villain in this movie is named Bane,” adding that “you may think it’s ridiculous, I’m just telling you this is the kind of stuff the Obama team is lining up.” Limbaugh later responded to the mounting media reaction by saying that he “didn’t say there was a conspiracy. I said the Democrats were going to use it, which they are.”
But late night host Conan O’Brien think Limbaugh may actually have been on to something with his original remarks. Just have a listen to clips from the The Dark Knight Rises…
Who will ever forget the sure-to-be-classic scene where Bane menacingly growls that “the streets will run red with blood before I release my tax returns”? That’s just good storytelling.
