Conway Tears Into Romney Amid Sec. of State Talk: He Went ‘Out of His Way to Hurt Trump’
Kellyanne Conway, formerly Donald Trump‘s campaign manager, went on a tear this morning against Mitt Romney, raising the concerns many have about choosing a man so critical of Trump to be in his administration.
Conway is one of a few people in Trump’s orbit who have come out to publicly warn against Trump picking Romney. She told CNN’s Dana Bash that she “hopes” Romney would be loyal, but said there are people who “feel betrayed” by this.
Conway pointed to how Romney “went so far out of his way to hurt” Trump and “attacked his character,” while not giving them credit for any of their serious policy proposals.
She made it clear at one point that if Trump picks Romney, she and everyone else will get behind him, but indicated she wouldn’t be happy about it.
Romney, she pointed out, “lost spectacularly” when he ran for president. Conway even questioned what Romney has done for America around the globe in the last few years.
“I’m all for party unity,” Conway said, “but I’m not sure that we have to pay for that with the Secretary of State position.”
