Cosby Show Co-Star to CNN: ‘Of Course He’s Guilty’

This time last week, former Good Times actor Jimmie Walker provided his reaction to recently released court documents in which Bill Cosby admitted to giving a woman quaaludes before he allegedly assaulted her. He couldn’t believe it because — and I quote — “women flock” to Cosby.

Well, it’s been a solid seven days, so it’s time for yet another former associate of Cosby’s to come out of the woodwork and provide his or her opinion on the matter. This time, it’s former Cosby Show actor Joseph C. Phillips, who played the husband of Denise Huxtable in the series. His take:

I think, like a lot of people, I was really giving Bill the benefit of the doubt. This is not the man that I knew. This is not the man that I worked with. He may have had other faults, but he certainly was not drugging people and raping them. And then I had a conversation with an old friend.

Phillips never identifies who the “old friend” was, though he does admit that she was a fellow Cosby Show co-star and someone Cosby personally mentored. Their “conversation” lasted two hours, and while Phillips doesn’t necessarily say this person was drugged or raped by Cosby, the allusion is blatantly obvious.

He credits this conversation with his change of heart, concluding, “of course Bill Cosby is guilty.”
