More footage is trickling out in the wake of the storms that hit various Southern cities, including Tusacloosa, Alabama. Tuscaloosa’s mayor, Walter Maddox, called CNN’s In The Arena the other night to inform viewers that the area would need a lot of help to fully recover, and the dramatic footage below shows just how extensive the storm really was. In fact, the funnel cloud shown below was estimated to about .5 to .75 miles wide.
In the video, you can watch as the EF4 tornado makes it way across the University Mall parking lot.
And, although such footage helps viewers understand the scope and impact of such storms, we have to ask (beg?) that people do all they can to stay safe: Don’t go out chasing tornadoes if you can help it, kiddos.
