Crossfire Tackles Talk Radio v. Cantor: Did Voters ‘Nominate Laura Ingraham’?

The hosts and guests of Crossfire took on Eric Cantor‘s big loss last night and the influence of talk radio on his huge loss, because individuals like Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter were big supporters of Dave Brat‘s campaign. Stephanie Cutter said Cantor “allowed himself to be defined” by talk radio hosts and trying to have it both ways, while Democratic strategist Kiki McLean questioned whether this election was really about Brat or the talk radio hosts who backed him.

Cutter said they “drove the election” on a false message that Cantor is somehow beloved by the Obama administration because he’s an establishment figure. She said talk radio “is basically driving a wedge” in the GOP, which Republican Tim Phillips strongly objected to.

McLean, however, said that this is a talk radio victory that creates yet another congressman who will “continue to obstruct and obstruct.” She argued there is a “vacuum of leadership in vision” within the GOP and so asked, “Did the people of Virginia nominate Laura Ingraham?”
