President Donald Trump‘s rally in Duluth, MN touched on all the greatest hits, including, of course, the “fake news media.”
After touting the creation of “3.4 million new jobs” since Election Day, Trump turned his attention to bashing the press.
“And I have said before, if I would have said that to you during the campaign, those very dishonest people back there, the fake news, very dishonest. They would have said, he is exaggerating.”
At this point, the crowd chanted “CNN Sucks!” for several seconds, and Trump let it die down before saying again: “These are very dishonest people.”
The president’s constant condemnation of the media is unacceptable — and leads to unfortunate, even dangerous scenes such as this. A free press needs to be cherished by our government, and when the press is the enemy of the state, the country becomes a dictatorship. Trump constantly spews out falsehoods which the media does and must continue to call out, wherever it appears.
The president went on to discuss immigration reform, the summit in Singapore, and, naturally, the military.
