Donald Trump was not the only Republican candidate to appear on Fox News on New Year’s Eve; Ted Cruz showed up too, and instead of an interview he got about two minutes to deliver a monologue about what conservatives have to look forward to.
The monologue featured Cruz declaring that 2016 will be “the last year” of President Obama, of Hillary Clinton, of Obamacare, of… well, of basically all the bad liberal things.

And then he pivoted to storyteller as he told a fable of a man who goes up to the White House in January 2017, three days in a row, to ask if Obama is still president. The Marine says no all three times before asking why the man keeps asking. The man says, “I know that. I just love hearing you say it.”
And yeah, it’s basically kind of a pseudo-campaign ad. (Though to be fair, other candidates like Mike Huckabee got to send in similar messages too.)
