Cruz Reacts to Beto O’Rourke Calling Him ‘Lyin Ted’: ‘You Can See the Desperation’
On Thursday, Sen. Ted Cruz reacted to his Democratic challenger Beto O’Rourke calling him “Lyin’ Ted.”
Fox News’ Laura Ingraham started the ball rolling by saying that the senator did a “fantastic” job at his debate with O’Rourke.
She then played a clip of O’Rourke during a CNN Town Hall tonight — which Cruz declined to attend — talking about calling Cruz the name coined by President Donald Trump during that debate.
“I guess he’s quoting the president in order to make his case,” Ingraham said after the clip ended. “Seems like there is no there there. I watched him, he’s a good-looking guy, there’s no there there. There’s no like, where’s the beef?”
Cruz replied: “You can see the desperation in that debate where he was insulting me, he was attacking me, he called me a liar. What’s striking is what he was responding to when he screamed liar. I pointed out that he voted in favor of a $10 a barrel tax on every barrel of oil produced in the state of Texas. His response is not to engage in substance but to simply scream, liar, liar, liar. Well, you know, facts matter.”
