New York Governor Andrew Cuomo held a press conference this morning on the explosion in Chelsea last night and the 29 injured victims.
He said everyone should give thanks to the lack of fatalities and said, “At this time, there is no evidence of an international terrorism connection with this incident, but it is very very early in the investigation, and it’s just starting.”
Regarding talk of a potential link to a pipe bomb that went off in New Jersey earlier yesterday, Cuomo said both that device and the one in New York that did not go off last night have been taken by the FBI for investigating, but otherwise there’s no clear link yet.
Cuomo announced that while there’s no reason to believe there are further immediate threats, he’s deploying more cops and National Guard just in case.
“New York is up and running and doing everything we need to do,” Cuomo said, “Whoever placed these bombs, we will find, and they will be brought to justice.”
He also said at one point “we’re not gonna let them win,” saying the goal of whoever did this was to make people afraid.
