Dana Perino Pays Tribute to George H.W. Bush: ‘Probably the Biggest Honor of My Life’ to Have Known Him

Fox News’ Dana Perino, a former White House press secretary who has been close with the Bush family, gave a moving tribute to former President George H.W. Bush on Fox & Friends this morning.

“Probably the biggest honor of my life,” she said, “to be able to have said that I knew him.”

She shared stories about how kind and interested in hearing from other people he was, including the time when she was White House press secretary and Bush Sr. showed up to speak with her.

Perino revealed that Bush dropped by to thank her for “all you do for my son.”

She reflected on the last time she met with Bush and said that he “always accepted the call” of public service throughout his entire life. He grew up privileged, Perino said, but “he didn’t accept the handout.”
