David Gregory Reportedly Met with CNN’s Jeff Zucker

Amid speculation that David Gregory’s days are numbered at NBC’s iconic Meet the Press came reports Monday that the embattled host met with CNN’s Jeff Zucker last week, according to the New York Post’s Page Six.

Sources described the meeting as informal, and involved no specific mention of Gregory moving to the cable news network. However, the Post also cited a different anonymous source — proceed with caution — claiming that CNN was “currently testing for a prime-time pilot that could be perfect for David.”

“No one was surprised to hear David was meeting over at CNN,” a source told the rag. “Jeff and David have been very close professionally and personally. Jeff was a champion of David’s during his time at NBC. Their families are close. They have a very strong relationship that dates back to the 1990s.”

Gregory has been plagued by declining ratings and negative coverage, and industry analysts are whispering that NBC News will replace him after the midterms.
