Defense Lawyer on Fox News: Mueller Might Want to Question Trump Again Because He Thinks He Lied

Steven Greenberg appeared on Fox News today and told the network that special counsel Robert Mueller may want to ask President Donald Trump additional questions because he thinks the president lied about some of his initial comments regarding the probe.

When asked if Trump has cooperated enough to appease the special counsel, Greenberg told the network, “I don’t know that he’s done enough, but I certainly wouldn’t let him do anything.”

The president’s legal counsel Rudy Giuliani has said Mueller will interview Trump “over my dead body.”

Greenberg continued by explaining that, due to Trump’s history of lying, Giuliani shouldn’t let him sit down with Mueller again:

“When you sit down with federal investigators, if you lie to them that’s a crime, and let’s be realistic, Donald Trump has some trouble with the truth. So, I would never let him, if I was his lawyer, sit down and answer questions face-to-face. I would do exactly what they’ve done, make sure the lawyers have gone through the answers, checked the Is, cross the Ts and so forth and never let him sit down down.”

After a Fox News host suggested Mueller wants to ask Trump more questions because of new evidence, Greenberg said he looks “at it a bit differently.”

“Maybe Robert Mueller looked at the answers and he wasn’t satisfied,” he said. “He didn’t think they were truthful and he’s got follow-up questions.”

As for the new McClatchy report alleging Cohen visited Prague during the 2016 election, Greenberg said that he trusts Cohen’s denial, since “he’s already talked to Mueller and he’s already told Mueller everything” and “Mueller has said that he was truthful.”
