Defense Sec. Carter Responds to Jade Helm Conspiracy in Most Diplomatic Way Possible

The Jade Helm military training operation happening in Texas has some people (including Governor Greg Abbott) concerned. Those concerns include martial law, a complete military takeover of Texas, something involving Wal-Mart concentration camps, and… yeah, you get the idea.

Abbott ordered the state guard to mobilize in response to those concerns, which earned him quite the scolding from his predecessor Rick Perry.

Well, today, CNN’s Barbara Starr asked Defense Secretary Ashton Carter about those conspiracy theories and whether he would “refute the concerns of those on the internet.”

Carter handled the question in the most diplomatic way possible, saying the Pentagon has been “very open and upfront about our training activities,” they’ve been very grateful for local support for training exercises, and they’re always “very responsive” to people’s inquiries.

Probably better to say all that than just repeat “Are you kidding me?” over and over.
