Congressman Ted Lieu slammed Attorney General Jeff Sessions for joking about whether there were Russians in the room during a speech today.
As Sessions started to address the Federalist Society, he asked, “Is Ambassador Kislyak in the room?… Before I get started here. Any Russians? Um, anybody been to Russia? Got a cousin in Russia or something?”
Lieu initially took to Twitter to say this:
Dear @TheJusticeDept Sessions: Problem is not that you were in the same room with any Russians. It's that you had a 45 min to 1 hour meeting with Russian Spy/Ambassador Kislyak and discussed Trump campaign views on Ukraine. Then you lied under oath about it. Get the difference? https://t.co/r04HzVXPcS

On CNN earlier tonight, Wolf Blitzer played the clip and asked, “Was that appropriate?”
“Not at all,” Lieu said. “Jeff Sessions still doesn’t get it.”
He said Sessions isn’t in trouble for being in a room with Russians, but for not previously disclosing his meeting with Ambassador Kislyak.
Earlier this week, Lieu got into a heated back-and-forth with Sessions during a hearing, saying he was either lying to the Senate then or lying to the House now.
