CNN’s Jake Tapper spoke with Congressman Seth Moulton this afternoon about what’s going wrong for the Democratic party. Tapper pointed out that the three House Republican leaders are ages 46 to 51, while the three major House Democratic leaders––Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, and James Clyburn––are all in their mid-to-late-70s.
And considering the criticism lately that the Democrats are just too out-of-touch, Tapper asked if that metric is a relevant one. Moulton said yes.
He touted the diversity of the Democratic caucus before conceding this point:
“Young people came out and voted Democratic. People of color came out and voted Democratic. And yet, when you look at our leadership, you don’t see a lot of young people or people of color represented.”
