Despite Trump Attacks, Jeff Sessions Insists He ‘Made the Right Decision’ on Recusal

Attorney General Jeff Sessions told Tucker Carlson today that despite the attacks from President Trump, he firmly believes his recusal was the right thing to do.

After telling Carlson that the President’s criticisms have been “hurtful,” Sessions was asked about the recusal, given these comments from the President:

“Sessions should have never recused himself and if he was going to recuse himself he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else.”

Sessions told Carlson, “I understand his feelings about it, because this has been a big distraction for him.”

But he insisted that he still believes he “made the right decision.”

Carlson asked him directly about whether he will continue to run the DOJ after what the President has said about him. Sessions said that’s up to Trump, but for now he will remain in his position.

He touted the progress the DOJ is making on issues like immigration and talked with Carlson about leak investigations.
