Devastating: SNL Pays Tribute To Slain Kids In CT With Children’s Choir Singing ‘Silent Night’

Saturday Night Live honored the victims of Friday’s tragedy by a somber opening of the show this weekend: a chorus of children, dressed in red robes, singing the Christmas classic, “Silent Night.”

SNL rarely departs from pure comedy, but they choose to make an exception on Saturday with this peaceful tribute. At the closing of the song, there was a moment of silence before the members of the children’s choir shouted, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!'”

The show didn’t reference the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting at any other points throughout the eposide, but the chorus later returned to join musical guest Paul McCartney in singing his version of “Wonderful Christmas Time.”
