‘Dismal Day for Republicans’: Ari Fleischer Slams GOP for Failing to Repeal Obamacare
— FOX & friends (@foxandfriends) July 18, 2017
Former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer had a glum view on Tuesday while he reacted to the collapse of the Senate GOP’s health care bill.
“This is a dismal day for Republicans,” Fleischer said on Fox & Friends. “This is an abandonment of the heart of what Republicans promised people for eight years, and not to be able to deliver on it.”
Fleischer went on to talk about the Senate’s responsibility to replace the Affordable Care Act, and how their failure “should not go un-noted” in the polls. Fleischer said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and President Trump are not to blame for the bill’s demise, and that the burden is on the shoulders of Senate Republicans.
The Senate health care bill essentially died on Monday after two Republican senators announced their decision to reject it in a vote. McConnell’s new plan is to bring back an old bill that would repeal Obamacare, but not replace it.
President Trump has tweeted on the matter, blaming Democrats and a few Republicans while stating that Obamacare should be allowed to fail.
