‘Do You Understand How Offensive That Is?’: Chris Wallace Grills Conway on Bannon’s Media Criticism

After going at it with White House counselor Kellyanne Conway over President Donald Trump excluding Saudi Arabia from his banned country list in his ‘extreme vetting’ executive order, Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace moved on to discussing Trump’s relationship with the press.

Wallace played a clip of Trump calling the media “dishonest” and then went on to read off a portion of chief strategist Steve Bannon’s combative interview with the New York Times where he told the media to “keep its mouth shut” while saying the press has “zero integrity.”

“Kellyanne, do you understand how offensive that is,” the Fox host asked Conway.

“I understand how offensive it was to never be taken seriously that Donald Trump could be elected president,” she responded.

Wallace countered that a “lot of us reported on it fairly.” Conway proceeded to spend the next few minutes railing against the media and effectively calling for newsrooms and media outlets to fire reporters and commentators, asking “who’s cleaning house” and wanting to know when they’ll get “rid of these people.”
