While moderating a panel discussion on President-elect Donald Trump’s potential choice of Mitt Romney as Secretary of State, host Don Lemon seemed to think former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich was a bit too harsh with his comments about Romney.
After introducing the panel and asking why Romney would want the job, Lemon then played a clip from earlier today in which Gingrich viciously mocked Romney to conservative radio host Laura Ingraham, claiming that Romney was sucking up to Trump.
Following the audio clip, Lemon remarked on Gingrich’s attacks on the former Presidential nominee.
“Jeez, seems like he was drinking a lot of haterade right there,” Lemon commented, to laughter from the panel. “My goodness, Newt, why don’t you say how you really feel.”
He then addressed former Bush press secretary Ari Fleischer to get his take, who said that Newt was likely reliving the 2012 primary. (Gingrich lost the GOP nomination to Romney.)
