Last night CNN’s Don Lemon grilled former Congressman Joe Walsh over his threatening tweet to President Obama.
Walsh took down a tweet amid the horror in Dallas in which he said, “This is now war. Watch out Obama. Watch out black lives matter punks. Real America is coming after you.”
Walsh told Lemon he tweeted that because he’s “pissed off” at how there’s “a war on our cops” and “it started with Barack Obama.”
He claimed that Obama has accused cops of racism by speaking of systemic racism, but Lemon pushed back against that characterization. He said, “If we’re speaking on facts here, not emotion… those words never came out of his mouth.”
Walsh insisted he was in the right and said, “That kind of hating leads to what you got in Dallas.”
The former congressman also revealed that he didn’t delete the tweet, “Twitter shut me down” until he removed it. So basically he stands by it.
Lemon asked him what he meant when he said “real Americans” are coming for Obama. Walsh said real Americans respect the cops. Lemon shot back that maybe “real Americans respect the office of the presidency.”
