Don Lemon on Trump Going After Christine Ford: He ‘Cannot Resist Mocking’ Her
While discussing Donald Trump mocking Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony against Brett Kavanaugh tonight, CNN host Don Lemon said the president just “can’t resist mocking” a credible witness.
“Hm, I guess the president is really feeling the pressure tonight because what he says about Professor Ford is just not true, okay?” Lemon said after playing the clip of Trump’s new attacks against Ford.
He continued by attempting to debunk the president’s claims against Kavanaugh:
“She testified for hours, and she remembered a whole lot more than the fact that she had one beer. She described the living room on the first floor, the narrow stairs leading to the second floor, the bedroom across from the bathroom, the music playing in the bedroom, and she remembered exactly what happened when she says Brett Kavanaugh got on top of her, groped her — according to her — tried to undress her, and put his hands over her mouth to keep her from screaming. She described her fear that he would accidentally kill her. She was clear about what she couldn’t remember as well, and crystal clear about the things she says she can never forget.”
Lemon went on to show the video of Trump reacting to Ford’s testimony in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee last week in-which he called her a “very credible witness” and a “very fine woman.”
“We learned tonight that our president cannot resist mocking a woman who he had called a credible witness in front of a cheering crowd,” Lemon remarked.
As for Trump’s comments, the president joked about the details of Ford’s allegations that she could not remember while speaking in front of a raucous crowd in Mississippi tonight.
“I had one beer. Well, do you think it was — nope, it was one beer,” Trump said, mocking the accuser. “How did you get home? I don’t remember. How’d you get there? I don’t remember. Where is the place? I don’t remember. How many years ago was it? I don’t know.”
The crowd laughed and cheered on the president’s attacks.
