Don Lemon Warns GOP Guest About Being ‘Confrontational’ in Testy Exchange Over Voter Suppression
During an interview on CNN tonight, host Don Lemon seemed to lose his patience with a guest over North Carolina Governor’s election and accusations of voter suppression in the state.
Speaking to North Carolina GOP executive director Dallas Woodhouse, Lemon wanted to talk about Governor Pat McCrory, who lost the election but is pushing for recounts in the state. (There is a recount ordered in Durham County.) The conversation was also about a report that Lemon had just aired regarding voting rights groups stating that there is little evidence of voter fraud but they do believe there was voter suppression.
Woodhouse began the interview accusing CNN of doing bad reporting, which understandably got Lemon defensive. So, right away, there was tension between the two.
As Woodhouse continued to say there was no voter suppression and talk over Lemon, the CNN host lost his patience. He defended his reporter and informed Woodhouse that discussion of voter suppression was more than just rhetoric.
Eventually, Lemon asked Woodhouse to stop being “confrontational” because “the viewer gets nothing out of it.” When Woodhouse wouldn’t answer Lemon’s question, we got this.
“You didn’t answer my question,” Lemon insisted. “Are you going to answer my question or are you going to sit there and filibuster?”
They would go back and forth for a few more minutes, with generally the same results.
