‘Don’t Laugh…’: Weld Says Gary Johnson Reminds Him of Lincoln
On CNN this afternoon, Libertarian VP nominee Bill Weld compared Gary Johnson to one of the most celebrated presidents of all-time.
Jake Tapper first challenged Weld on the idea that questions about favorite foreign leaders and what Aleppo is are “pop quizzes.” He said those are pretty “legitimate questions.”
“I’ll give you that,” Weld said. “We’d like to have those two sentences back, no question.”
He credited Johnson as someone who’s always quick to accept personal responsibility.
And after saying “don’t laugh,” Weld told Tapper, “He kind of reminds me in many ways of Abraham Lincoln, who was another great truth-teller of his time.”
