Duck Dynasty Star Cuts Ad for GOP House Candidate

Businessman and reality television star Willie Robertson has cut a television campaign ad for a Republican candidate in Louisiana’s 5th District special election.

In the ad, Robertson, the Duck Dynasty star and CEO of Duck Commander, declares his support for businessman Vance McAllister, one of two Republicans squaring off in this Saturday’s special election to replace the recently-resigned Rep. Rodney Alexander.

“Hey this is Willie Robertson, reminding you to get out Saturday, Nov. 16 and vote for my good buddy Vance McAllister. Let’s send somebody from the 5th District who speaks for us to help turn Washington around,” Robertson says in the ad, which will run on broadcast, cable, and the web.

The Robertson family, a.k.a. “the Duck Dynasty,” resides in the 5th District and are personal friends of McAllister’s, having appeared at multiple campaign events. The businessman is considered the underdog in the race, however, as he runs against GOP State Sen. Neil Riser. In the state’s open primary last month, McAllister obtained 18 percent of the vote — qualifying him for the runoff — but Riser received 32 percent.
