Ebola Nurse Amber Vinson: ‘We Did Not Get Much Training’
Amber Vinson, one of the two Texas nurses who had contracted Ebola while treating patient Thomas Duncan, spoke out out in interviews today, with NBC’s Matt Lauer and CNN’s Don Lemon. And Vinson wants to make clear she followed proper CDC protocols and never recklessly endangered anyone.
On NBC, Vinson admitted that “we did not get much training” in how to handle Ebola. She explained, “The first time that I put on the protective equipment, I was heading in to take care of the patient. So, we didn’t have excessive training where we could don and doff, put on and take off the protective equipment, till we got a level of being comfortable with it.”
She insisted in both interviews that she was never told not to travel and that once she contracted Ebola, she observed proper CDC protocol. And in her CNN interview, Vinson even got a little teary-eyed as she insisted that she would never recklessly try to put anyone in danger.
