Ellen Degeneres Teases George Bush About Inauguration Day: ‘Was That Your First Time Putting a Poncho On?’
George W. Bush has been making the TV rounds this week, and yesterday he stopped by Ellen. He talked about his close friendship with Michelle Obama and his attendance at the inauguration, which, if you remember, was kind of a tough time for the former president. It wasn’t tough in the way you’re thinking, though. His troubles had nothing to do with the fact that his brother, Jeb Bush lost to President Donald Trump in the primary, nor did they have anything to do with the fact that he did not vote for Trump.
The problem was with his outerwear. As Ellen DeGeneres said, “The poncho was a problem.” In case you had forgotten, the Internet pretty much exploded with photos of Bush struggling to put his rain gear on. “Had you put a poncho…had you put one on? Was that the first time?” she asked.
“It looks like it, that’s for sure,” Bush said, laughing.
DeGeneres then pointed out that the issue probably runs in the family, as his mother also had trouble with hers.
