Daly had asked the OutFront host about what influenced her to get into television, and she replied it must have been in her subconscious.
“When I was a little kid, I used to — because we didn’t get cable, my parents still can’t get cable because it is so in the middle of nowhere — they get satellite,” Burnett began. “So when I was little, we would get the news hour and we would watch Dan Rather — so at the end of Dan Rather when I was like, probably six I would always go up at the end of the night and give Dan Rather a kiss good night on the screen.”
“Oh my gosh!” Daly said. “Are we rolling this?”
“Yeah, but they found out at school and then this girl — I won’t way what her name was because I’m sure she’s a very nice grown-up,” Burnett continued. “Anyway, she outed me about it and it was one of the most humiliating moments of my life. ‘Cause it was years after. I’m like, ‘Oh I don’t do that anymore. What do you mean?'”
“Right,” Daly said.
“I don’t kiss him anymore!” Burnett contended.
“That’s very telling,” Daly responded.
