Laci Walker is a former Army sergeant who served under Captain Humayan Khan, and she spoke out on CNN this afternoon about the “ridiculous” discussion about his heritage.
She talked to Brooke Baldwin about what a great colleague and friend Khan was, calling him “the most respected man I’ve ever come into contact with.”
And Walker said it’s “irritating” to hear all the current conversation about him and his family because “he didn’t wear his heritage on his shoulder, he wore the American flag like all of us did.”
“He didn’t die because he’s a Muslim,” Walker said, “he didn’t even––she didn’t shout out that he was a Muslim, he was just proud to serve his country.”
She very explicitly avoided getting more political, instead simply saying in response to Donald Trump that he should understand “no sacrifice is as infinite as giving your life for your country.”
