Failed Trump Cabinet Nominee Andy Puzder Rips ‘Olivia’ Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal
During a segment on The Story With Martha MacCallum on Wednesday, failed Trump cabinet nominee Andy Puzder did his best to lambaste Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez.
But he got the Democratic freshman Congresswoman’s name wrong.
After being asked about the impact that the Green New Deal would have on the fast food industry Puzder — who withdrew shortly after being nominated to be Labor Secretary — started by talking about how Democrats are trying to wipe out the cattle industry because of methane production (aka cow farts), which would, of course, impact fast food restaurants.
The Chief Executive Officer of CKE Restaurants, though, added meatless burgers exist and if people want non-beef burgers, that is what they will sell but it should come from consumers, not Democrats.
MacCallum then pressed further: “You want that to drive it what people want, what the customer wants will inevitably drive the market to provide what they can sell. Right?”
Puzder said he did.
“We don’t need the government telling people what to eat, telling people where to go. Telling people what they can do,” he said.
He then said this about the Green New Deal: “I mean, this Green Deal is so absurd and the fact that Democratic presidential candidates have gotten behind it is, I think, Kimberley Strassel of the Wall Street Journal said this best. This green deal and Olivia Ocasio-Cortez are like the Republican’s secret weapon for 2020. We just have to sit back and watch it happen.”
