Father of 19-Year-Old Killed by Chicago Cop Brought to Tears During CNN Interview
The father of a 19-year-old who was fatally shot by a Chicago police officer this past weekend broke down crying multiple times during an interview on CNN this afternoon.
Antonio LeGrier spoke to Brooke Baldwin about the death of his son Quintonio LeGrier after officers responded to a domestic disturbance. A 55-year-old woman who lived in the same building, Bettie Jones, was also shot and killed. LeGrier has filed a wrongful death suit against the city of Chicago.
He explained to Baldwin that he called the cops against his son because when he heard the banging on his door (his son had a baseball bat), he thought the police would be better equipped to deal with his angry son than he would be at that moment.
But when he described the scene after the police arrived, LeGrier repeatedly burst into tears on air. At one point when he began to cry again, Baldwin decided to go to commercial to give him a moment.
After they returned from break, LeGrier continued speaking very emotionally about his son being shot and his lawsuit against the city.
