Here’s a local TV story out of last week’s election night. During a watch party hosted by Texas Lt. Governor-elect Dan Patrick, several reporters were berated, while on-air, by GOP supporters upset they were broadcasting during a prayer.

Houston-based blogger Mike McGuff flagged the incident after abc13 KTRK reporter Foti Kallergis tweeted that he had just been “assaulted” on live TV:

Fox 26 KRIV reporter Isiah Carey noticed the commotion and snapped a picture of a Republican supporter (in the khaki blazer) confronting Kallergis (with the mic), who was defended by KTRK colleague Deborah Wrigley (in the black dress):

Deborah Wrigley from channel 13 had to step in and stop the Republican supporter (tan jacket) from attacking her fellow reporter (black suit) on the air. The man was offended because the reporter was live on air during a prayer at Lt.Governor Elect Dan Patrick’s watch party. Wrigley says then another woman from the event approached her and called her a fucking bitch. Keep in mind this is during a physical assault over interrupting a prayer. Where was Jesus in this room?

According to Carey, another attendee called Wrigley a “fucking bitch” during the scuffle.

That part did not happen on live TV, but the beginning of the confrontation did. KTRK viewers were treated to an unidentified man telling Kallergis, mid-report,

to shush because Patrick was in the middle of leading a prayer on-stage
