If you don’t count any special appearances that might happen on tonight’s super-sized finale, Louis C.K. was Jon Stewart’s last real Daily Show guest.

“Thanks for having me, I’m thrilled to be your last dude,” Louis C.K. told Stewart at the top of the segment. “I came on behalf of comedy… just to say, ‘Nice job.'” He then revealed that Stewart was one of the first comedians he ever saw perform at the Comedy Cellar in New York City. “Who’s this little Jew?” he remembered thinking. “He’s funny.”

Stewart then talked about his semi-triumphant return to stand-up at that same venue last week, which was inspired by watching Louis C.K. try out new material. “I felt like an awkward foal again,” he said, joking that he had to resort to some classic Saddam Hussein material to get laughs.
