Fmr. CIA Director Brennan: Congress Should Say ‘Enough Is Enough’ If Trump Fires Mueller

Former CIA Director John Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper spoke at the Aspen Security Forum today about their concerns for the country.

Wolf Blitzer spoke with both men about everything from Russia to President Trump, expressing particular concern about the way the President has spoken of the intel community.

Blitzer even brought up the second, informal meeting between Trump and Vladimir Putin. Brennan said, “Quite frankly, I think there are concerns that sometimes what Mr. Trump says happened is not exactly what happens.”

But on the subject of the Robert Mueller Russia probe, he had this to say:

“If he’s fired by Mr. Trump or is attempted to be fired by Mr. Trump, I really hope that our members of Congress, our elected representatives, are going to stand up and say enough is enough and stop making apologies and excuses for things that are happening that really flout, I think, our system of laws and government.”

He added that there are people in the executive branch who should “refuse to carry out some of these orders that are inconsistent with what this country’s all about.”
