FNC Election Ratings Beat CNN And MSNBC Combined; Ailes Congratulates On “Job Well Done”

Cable news ratings, November 2, 2010:

• Fox News beat CNN and MSNBC combined during prime time for Election Night coverage, in total viewers and the A25-54 demographic. It was the network’s best prime time ratings since the Presidential Election two years ago. CNN finished a clear #2, while MSNBC was #3. Mediaite obtained an internal memo sent from Roger Ailes congratulating FNC and the rest of the Fox team.

Here’s the memo from Ailes:

To all employees of Fox News,

First, congratulations to the Fox News Channel for a job well done last night. At our high point we averaged 7 million viewers and had a flawless professional performance. In addition, I’d like to congratulate the Fox Business Network, Fox News Digital and Fox News radio for an excellent performance. We don’t have additional numbers for those entities yet, but the reach of our news continues to expand. Everyone did a first rate job and I’m proud of you all.

CNN had 2.4 million viewers and MSNBC had 1.9 million.

FNC also had the top show on all of cable in total viewers at 9pmET, and the top cable show in the demo during the 10pmET hour.
